Search Terms for May 2007

  • ca legal mp5: Vector, Special Weapons, and Bobcat Weapons MP5 clones are off-list, meaning that they can be rendered SB23 compliant by disabling the mag release or neutralizing the pistol grip and other features. There may be other MP5 vendors, but that's a good starting ground.

  • .50 beowulf rifle stats: The rounds drop like a rock after 200 yards, it feels like firing slugs from a semi-auto shotgun, and it's quite fun. For actual statistics, consult Alexander Arms, which is the company that makes 'em.

  • california legal ar-15 barrel lengths: For any rifle, the minimum barrel length on a federal or state level is 16". In California, you also have to worry about the overall length, which is 26" for rimfire or non-semi rifles, or 30" for any semi-automatic centerfire rifle.

  • ar-15 california legal magazine catch: What you are most likely looking for here, is a fixed magazine kit. Try searching with those terms, and you'll find one. The most popular one out there at the moment are the "prince 50" kits - there are two different ones; one is a bullet button and the other is a fixed magazine kit.

  • california legal ak 22: I don't think there are any 22LR AK's on the California assault weapon list. You're probably asking about the Romanian trainer, which is a 22LR AK, or the Armscorp AK-22. Both are entirely California legal, however it is worthwhile to note that the Armscorp product is only shaped like an AK-47.

  • california legal shotgun pistol grip: Yes, shotguns may have pistol grips in California. On semi's there are some limitations (which I can't remember off the top of my head), but on pump shotguns you can have as many pistol grips as you want on it.

  • wilson tactical lower receiver stripped ca legal: Yes, the Wilson Tactical lower is legal. The Wilson Combat lower (produced by the father of the guy making the Tactical lowers) is listed.

  • .50 beowulf legal in california: Yes, it's legal.

  • automatic shotgun magazine conversion: In California, a detachable magazine on a semi-auto shotgun is an assault weapon. Don't go there if you're in CA. Otherwise, enjoy! Of course, if you mean fully automatic, that's federally prohibited.

  • beowulf boresnake: Use any standard 50 caliber boresnake. I had one for my Desert Eagle pistol, which seems to do a fine job on the Beowulf. However, if you have a long barrel you may want to consider one made for 50 BMG rifles. It's a comparable diameter.

  • building an ak-47 using ewbanks receiver: It's more or less the same as building an AK-47 using another standard stamped receiver.

  • california assault rifle .22: SB23 regulates semi-automatic, centerfire rifles. 22LR rifles are rimfire, and thus cannot be assault weapons.

  • gun silencer construction: No, we're not doing that article.

  • is it legal to have forward pistol grip on ar: In California? Yes, provided that you have fixed a 10 round magazine in place on the rifle or your rifle is rimfire (i.e. 22LR or 17HMR2), or your rifle is non semi automatic (i.e. disabled gas system).

  • mini14 still legal in california: Yes. Just don't install a side-folding stock or other SB23-prohibited features on it.

  • ptr 91 vs. ar 10: The AR-10 is an AR system, and much easier to get into and service. The PTR's front trunion is welded in place, and on a whole is harder to work on. The fluted chamber of the PTR-91 tends to damage brass a little, and its extraction port is particularly hard on it. That having been said, it's a fun rifle.

  • silencers gun shows california: Heh, in California? Good luck.
